02 X model I have a vibration that happens at about 55 mph for a few miles an hour in this range. If it is not the tires or other suspension components what I would like to know is is it common for the CV or Universal joint in the front axle to cause this as it is going out?
Thanks for your replys

If the joint is bad it can cause the vibration. The axle shafts do not have hub lockouts on them and rotate with the wheels.
check to see if they have movement, rust marks/dust or binding. It may be necessary to remove them if you are unsure.

since your driveshaft spins about 4 times as fast as your axles and tires, the vibration would be quite different than a wheel out of balance. more of a growling or buzzing sensation at those speeds.

check the axle cv's (u-joints?) for any play or wobble. check in neutral/ tires chocked/ t-case neutral. triple check the wheel assemblies for uneven tire wear, out of round, bent wheels, out of ballance. rotate fronts to back to see if it makes a difference.
