did searches all that good stuff. the one on woddys site is hell intense. is there a more basic one i could make myself w/ my freind doin the welding? i was thinkin like c channel cut in like a 2" section one on the housing, one on the crossmember and just somne hiems. im DEFINATLY no suspension designer. is the hinge/shackle design needed to allow it to droop? thanks!

The idea you have will limit the travel of the suspension... If you put a "shackle" it will allow the track bar to "pivit downward with the suspension insted of limiting it.

Yeah, what he said. Brandon has the single bar on his mini truck and he didn't notice any problems with it limiting his flex. If you are going to go through the trouble of making a wrap bar, you might as well make one with a shackle.

try a single bar first - with short wheelbase you might run into issues, but I get full travel out of my 9012 shocks that are at a pretty good angle from my rear suspension..

Contact Paul Decker in Petaluma, CA.

His trac bars are awesome. He can show you why some work and some don't.

sorry I don't have the contact info in front of me.

I'm not sure how much simpler a bar can get than the one I tech on my site, particularly since it's only around $80 to fab up.

IIRC, the Decker bar is also nice, but in the $150 plus range.

A friend and I may be putting together a traction bar kit....bracket for the rear axle housing, lengths of 1" OD DOM tubing, bolts, etc. for anyone to weld up. Still playing with the idea. Trying to keep it in the $100 range as well....

Dustin - do what jiMMyFJ40 does - just weld something up You and Peter can figure something out - I say build your own. If you want I can send digi pics of Ian's set-up. Cheers, Andy

I was in a hurry and didnt have time or xtra $$ to get a heim so I fabbed up a 3/4'' nut on the front of the trackbar. I welded a 3/4'' bolt to the tubing that has the bushings in it. I threaded the bolt through the nut and into the front of the trackbar tube. I stopped threading it in when there was only 1 full turn left before bottoming out the threads. I also used neversieze on the threads to prevent freeze up. The rest of the trackbar is like Woody's. I flexxed it out in Clayton with no binding.

my .02 cents say use deckers bar you wont have to do any fab work it comes pre notched to sit on top of the housing ,it is your fastest cleanest option ..
besides paul is a suspension designer he designed and built a racecar that took him to multipule national championships in scca d-sports class he knows his stuff ..

I have been running a tractor plough arm like Mark 73 FJ40 as above with no problems of binding.I only have one arm in the middle from the diff to the pipe cross member. I fitted landcruiser springeye bushes in the Hiem jionts to take some of the shock.I run 35 tyres rearched springs with about 8 inch shackles it's easy to make. I say go for it best thing I've done.
