Ok, I know what I want now and they discontinued them. I need to find a Warn birfield eliminator kit and a Warn rear full floater conversion kit. Do any of you guys have one or know of someone who does and wants to sell. Also, anyone out there running one of these or heard anything about them? Post It!

Have you checked out the Birfield Eliminator Kit that Redline makes. He is backordered right now but it is a heck of a good kit. I have been running one in my 90 Ex-Cab since June and have not had any problems. The kit that I got has the Warn Hi-Alloy axles and both the wife an I have tested it on the "Con" and "4-Dice" a number of times. This is just hearsay but I heard there was a lot of problems with the Warn Kit. http://www.redlineoffroad.com/

Matt, that is not really a good idea. Shoot me an email off line and we will discuss.

I personally saw three broken Warn kits. Two of the 3 were bad enough to munch the yokes on both the axles too. I've also seen many blown spicer u-joints in those kits - the only difference is the only thing broken was the u-joint.

I had both the Warn kits and ended up selling the Birf Elim kit after I saw the trail carnage. Just my $0.02 - if ya want more strength up front - go with a D60 or some toy/dana hybrid (Allpro's front hybrid looks beefy).

I wouldn't waste my time or money on something that will have the ujoint strenght of a D44 inner axle. I would call a D60 a real birfield eliminator. Just do it and you'll never regret it.

My 2 cents..

Hey Georg

Do a search in General about Redline. Go to the one about 2 months ago.

Godd product, but the company is having some difficulties.

I don't want to start another Redline session on the TLC board, we need to stay above water on those type things if we can.

As for the Warn kit. Yes, i think a 297x Ujoint is an upgrade from a Newfield/Birfield, but not enough of one to warrant the expense of fooling with it.

THe Warn kit was D/C'ed due to breakage and if you found a kit, there would be no spare support!

Screw that.

Buy a trunk load of stock birfields and gowheeling. Save your $$ for something with 1410 U-Joints.

I've got Newfields....no complaints thus far, 3 HARD trips out on them. I did manage to break two of their earlier versions, and a few birfields before that.

The NICE thing about Newfields is if you are like my and Nolen, you tend to hit the hard stuff immediately....if you break in that first 15 minutes with a Warn kit or a custom-shaft setup, you likely won't have spare shafts along and your weekend of playing hard is done. With Newfields, a stock birfield could be dropped in it's place and your weekend of fun is only interrupted with that 30 minute trail repair.

I carry one rebuilt earlier generation Newfield, 2 minitruck birfields, and one fine-spline cruiser birfield.

IMO, Newfields or D60's....Newfields if you prefer the sorta-stock factor (and, like me, have lots of Birfields laying around as spares...) or D60 if you've got some spare change and aren't afraid to spend it on something nearly unbreakable except in silly situations...

With all I've read on this board regarding Redline, goods and bads, I think their kit is a decent option. I believe their business practices need some work tho. IMO, YMMV, FWIW, etc. etc. etc....

I carry a spare Birfield, short and long side axle and spindle incase I blow one of the Redline axles. When I first bought the Redline kit I was told that I would have to remove the brass bushing that you put into the axle tube for the Redline kit. After I put the bushings into the axle housing I wanted to see if I could get a stock axle back in and it slid right in. I also carry extra 297X U-joints.
