I need a water pump for my 345. Where do I go? I am in Texas. Is there a store I can order from? I have checked, Summit, Super Scout Specialists, and a few others.

Always check your local parts stores first for IH engine parts and accessories. Hell, more than half the school buses for small school districts in Texas are powered by IH 345's so most parts stores keep stuff in stock.

LOL thats kool, I have had nothing but trouble from them. I have countless times had the wrong parts ordered from them. Oil pumps, starters, and lots of other little junk....They try...just not very hard.

Napa had my water pump in stock when I replaced mine. Was pretty cheap too, as I recall.

I think its because everytime I drive up to chester I break something and then I get to deal my hometown folk ( you gotta talk kinda slow they confuse easy. ) but what can you expect from a town that doesnt even have a stop light? They once voted on one on main street and decided it was a no go because " People would get confused."
my god I think my neck is red........:flipoff2:

Electric?!

Is anyone running an electric Water pump on their IH motor? I'm looking at the CSI pumps. Some may recall my questions about this a while ago... Buggy build is going slowly, but the radiator will be in the back. Figured an electric pump would be the ticket for getting my normally hot motor cooled down....

(No Hi-Po water pumps for IH iron in Summit....:flipoff2: )

So almighty guru of auto parts, what chain store should I go to??

And don't tell me to go to any other chain store as they all sell the exact same parts! If you buy a name brand part it is the same name brand you'd get at any store.

If you buy the store brand it's the same part you'd get in the store brand box across town at the other guys. Check for your self if you don't believe me - buy a Napa oil filter - then buy a Checker or autozone filter - exact same part.... It applies to almost everything that isn't name brand.

There are only so many manufacturers of auto parts - they just sell a lot of different boxes...

Example - if Napa buys out a Champion Auto - the Napa guy from their warehouse shows up with a box full of new boxes - not new parts - and a big cross reference list and stars reboxing every part in the store into a NAPA box - and the auto parts world goes on.... And fools suckers like you into thinking your getting a superior part when it comes in a Red and Blue box compared to a blue and yellow box....

If you want a "superior" part buy the name brand part that costs 2x as much and be happy.

I guess you also have trouble changing the blinker fluid too huh?

Are you using a 20# sledge to install them? That might not help.

Maybe a rubber hammer would be best for you, Thor.....

I didnt break the 24 year old dried and rusted Spicers when I took them off. Just the overly priced cheap crap. And I am pretty clumsy but I dont think the fact that I cant walk has any bearing on my ability to change a u-joint. As far as what parts store to go to I will let you folks make your own poor descisions and learn from your mistakes as I have mine. Just ranting but I know that NAPA did not intend to sell me crap and they gladly refunded my hard earned dollars. And who the hell takes out u-joints with a hammer! Go buy the right tool for the job. Sheesh...a hammer!

Actually...a hammer is one of the best things to use. First you break the lock of the rust with the impact of the hammer. Unless you are using a 10lb sledge, you won't bend an ear.

Lastly...what are you going to use on the trail?

I never seen a mechanic at any shop, not even the dealer, use anything but a hammer to change a u-joint.
