i need to weld a tab to the bottom of the frame that holds my FULL fuel cell.is it safe to weld so close to the fuel cell?its an RCI aluminum fuel cell.ill be welding on steel about 1/2 inch from the cell and the steel touches the cell.

maybe if ya keep the heat down but since im a scardy cat id pull the fuel cell out

as long as you have absolutely no leaks causing fumes your fine. the fumes are what will EXPLODE. put some kind of sheild between the cell and the weld ( piece of metal or welding blanket etc)

i think ill just pull it out,i have to weld up by the filler as well.

my garage,i dont have 17 gallons of gas cans.i am done now and the tank is back in.it would have been more work then it was worth to take the gas out first.

i just welded a tab to the bottom of the fuel cell cage so that i can bolt the strap to it that holds the cell in if i roll over.my welding isnt pretty but it will hold.
