Found out I have a cracked cooler boss on my TH350. Looks like Durafix might work to fix it. My question, for those who've done it, is does the tranny need to be stripped before doing the brazing? I'm worried about starting a fire inside the case.

Try it and keep it full of fluid with an extinguisher handy. Worst case..catches fire, you put it out, you rebuild the tranny. Second worst, you burn some seals, you rebuild the tranny. Best case, you braze it up and all is fine.
The thing is...if you strip the tranny, its the same as a rebuild. Might as well try to fix it all together first.

i'd say you keep a wet towel around the area to keep the heat as localized as possible. the only part you need to worry about is the pump o-ring.

good luck either way.

The heat is going to pull the atf into the crack. You need to gut it. Takes a whopping ten minutes.
