i am in the process of adapting a 83 california 22r carbrator onto a 20r intake.(trying to keep it smog legal)

i have everything hooked up except for one thing.

it is a large sensor or switch on the bottom of the 22r intake. i know it is going to be very difficult to adapt this part.

so if it isn't a neccesary part i will leave it out.

or if there is another vertion of it that can easiley be adapted i will get it.

i found a picture of the same type of intake on the net that i have attached. you can see this thing through the top insideof the intake through the carberator holes. it looks like a big round metal can and there is a one wire plug comeing off of it on the under side and four bolts holding it on.

sooooo......what the hect is it?

i was thinking that it might be some sort of heater for when it is warming up. looks kind of big to be a thermal sensor.

thanks

I believe it is the carb pre-heat...kinda like the hose from the exhaust manifold to the intake on older vehicles....good for cold starts...
