That is a wood working drill press judging by the diameter of the column and the type of base. Keep looking.

You're on the right track tho. Get chya gearhead machine with a T slot mill style table. If not the mill style get the T slots and add a mill table from enco. Then you can get a Bridgeport and a South Bend and a DoAll bandsaw and a Surface grinder and a rotary table and...

i bet it has the pullies that change size to adjus tthe speed. i forget what they are called though, thye are a 2-3 piece design and some how when you adjust the knob the pullies compress or seperat to create a lager/small drive circomferance, my hs wood shop had lathe's setup like that.

No seriously that is a dedicated woodworker special it has the varipitch control not good on metal. Check your local craigslist there are smoking deals on there all the time on press/mills
