Ok, I have a 20R/22R Hybrid in my 80. It's been movin around quite a bit. My shifters have about an inch of movement side to side, & its annoying. The Tcase also knocks against my xmember....

I pulle dthe old mounts, and one was sliced real deep, and the other is spider-webbed bad.

Well, I got a set off a later 22R/RE(?), and tried to put them in......The rear mounting holes to the frame mount are off by 1/4-3/8", so I can only get the front bolt in on each side........???

I just tried using a hand drill to enlarge the hole, but its a no go. I tried a stone bit and a steel bit on a die grinder, no go there either....

Has anybody got any idea why the later mounts wont work, and better yet, which ones WILL work?

Thanx

Are they in right side up? Note the locating pin. Also, be sure to re-use the stamped steel 'shroud' that goes over the mount as this helps keep them from getting torn apart by torque.

When I replaced mine several years ago I had to pry the motor around quite a bit before the bolts lined up. Yes they are Toyota factory mounts, so the bolt holes should be right.

Not sure, but my 81 came with a 22r and I think that all motor mounts from 79 - 83 are the same.

I just looked at LCE motormounts and they list same p/n for 75-95 pickups...

My 83 rear mount is a bit diferent than my 82
mount. Found that out when I made a custom x-member for my dual case set up. I made my X-member with dual mounts.

When I swopped motors in my truck, i noticed that the mounts fit REALY tight, and i used the same mounts when I did it, they were thrashed. I used the ol' chain trick, (as a limiting strap) to keep them from rockin too far, works good but makes it so you can feel the motor more when you realy put it to her!

Yes, the pins are right side up.
After I discovered the problem, I held both mounts back to back, and yes, the bolt pattern is 1/4-3/8" wider than the old ones.

I did find mention that some early 22R's have a different bracket mounting. I got this hybrid with the truck, so I dont know what vintage block I have yet.

I crossed part numbers on the old ones with the European EPC, and they match the year truck. The ones I got from Bud are from an 85. I guess I'll have to see if I can have someone mill the slots, or else hit the dealer for new mounts.

Thanx for the responses...

Just for reference the part numbers of the mounts I have are:
85's: 12361-38050 Both sides.
my old ones: 12361-38140 & 12361-38070
(I'm not sure which side is which, as I didnt keep track when I pulled them)
