I'm installing a fan driven tranny cooler and I'd like to place an inline fuse.

Question is what size fuse?

In general, how do you choose between 15 amp 20 amp etc etc fuse size?

Two things. Where did the fan come from? If it came out of another car, check to see what fuse was used there. Otherwise, I would hook it up and run it. See what peak draw is and go 5 amps higher.

20% over FLA (full load amps).

15 Amp usually unless it's a small one, but plan on using a relay to help ensure full voltage to the fan.

What they said. Somewhere on the motor it will (hopefully) say something like "12V 15A"?

If it's in watts, just divide by 12 (the voltage) to figure out how much current it's going to draw.

Okay, the fan is 45amp 12volt. So, I'll have 2 fans on the same line....do I use a 50 amp fuse or a 100 amp (is there such a thing?) fuse. Also, how do I figure out what size wire to run?

Good info so far, thanks!
