9 inch axles with a 5 on 4½ bolt pattern had small bearings. Full size Lincolns and ½ ton trucks had a large (3.15") bearingOriginally posted by u2slow:
Two disc 9" I have/had were a 78 Lincoln Mark V, and the other was a 79 Lincoln Versaille.
The Mark V is the wider one - about 65", is 4-link, and has 5-on-5" bolt pattern.
The Versaille is narrower - 58.5", is leaf-sprung, and has 5-on-4.5" pattern.
Weird man... totally weird. The Versaille 9" I had we took out of the car and bolted straight into my buddy's '65 Mustang on the same weekend. Leaf springs in both cars. Had to exchange u-bolts for ones that fit the larger 3" tube. This was 58-59" from WMS to WMS.Originally posted by coyote11:
I went to Pull-N-Save and got a rear from a '79 Versaille... It is big bearing, coil sprung, and I'm not sure of the wms to wms but I thought it was about 58-59 inches from the flanges at the end of the axle tubes. Oh yeah I forgot, it has 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern.[ 09-20-2001: Message edited by: coyote11 ]
