In the market for some new axles but keep going back and forth between a 14 bolt and a 9 inch aftermarket axles.

Anyone been down this decision path lately? Recommendations? Thoughts?

Whats a better value?



Aftermarket 14 Bolt
-Heavier stronger housing 4", .5" Tubes?
- Gears are stronger than 9" front and rear?
-40 Spline ARB is under $1K
-Gears are cheap
-Are people breaking 14 bolt gears regularly with reasonable amounts of power < 500hp?

Aftermarket 9 Inch
-Housing is cheaper to start
-Lighter, Weaker housing 3.5", .25" / .375"?
-Needs to be trussed?
- 40 Spline requires Comp ARB $2300?
- Third Member Housing another $1K?
-10" gears are stronger front and rear? more expensive
- Spidertraxx Pro Series knuckles will those handle RCV Big Bell Shafts?

I'm not understanding like half the points you made about the housings, pretty sure you can get a 9" housing in any size tube you can get a 14b.

14b is probably more bang for your buck, but the availability of high pinion for the front 9" is nice.

9" ARB is notoriously weak unless you get the $$ version.

Drop out 3rds are the shit.

14b gears are normal priced, where hi9 and big boy gears for the 9/10" are $$

Off the shelf I have not seen any fabricated 9 Inch housing 4inch tubing or 1/2 inch thick. Spidertrax has 4" version but it's all chromolly and $$$$

Tube works also has a 4”. $$$
