What's the best year ro years to use for the reduction box when setting up dual cases?

Does it matter.. or will any do as long as its a top shifting box. I will be using 21 spline shafts and a AA adapter. I have a t/case out of a 87efi for my main case.
I just don't want to waste my $$ on something I can't use..

The rear case HAS to be a top shifting box( EFI box). The front half case has to be compatible with whatever transmission you have. So if you have a G-52, the front case has to have the shift forks sticking out of it. But if you have A W-56, then the front case has to have the internal shift forks.

Blackntan is right except for the efi part.You can use a carb case for the rear as long as it's from a 79-83. They had the t-case shifter in the case not the tranny like the 84 - up carb cases.

Any 4 cylinder case will work. It does have to be top shift, which can be converted from a front shift. Marlin converted mine for $75.
