i just redid my breaks and i tought i had pounded them in all the way (studs). but a few are not all the way. they are new. got them from checker. other than taking it all back apart and pounding the crap out of it again? i think i need longer bolts anyway beacause i got some wheels and they are chevy after market 15x8's. the wheel is steel and thicker then the stock wheels i used to have.

You more then likely did not get the right studs, or you did not use a big enough BFH. When I put mine in, I used a 4-pound hammer and a drift made out of 7/8 round steel stock. The best and easiest way to put them in is with a hydraulic press or a big arbor press <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0">

i must have pounded on them for 20 mins each. the old toyota one went in just fine with only 2 mins of pounding. hmmm. guess i'll call the yota dealer tomarrow. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

There are different size knurled shoulders on lug studs. Sounds like you got the wrong size!!!!!

Are you guys talking about wheel studs? Heck I get them started in the splines and then pull them in the rest of the way with a lug nut and my impact. Never had any problem.

Yep done it that way too. It is not recommended, they say it stretches the stud. Did it that way on my "55 Doorslammer" and never lost a wheel. Now I use my 20 ton press that my wife (Mrs. OOP'S) bought me for no reason at all (maybe she got tired of hearing me whine).

I know it's not recomended, but I figure if the bozo's down at the tire shop put tires on that way (with the zip gun) I can grenade test the studs while installing them. Besides, I only use my Cambell, not the 2131.

i used the method of pulling the stud through the disk with the lug nut and a couple of washers. but they won't stay put. i think they are too big! <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0">
