Ok this is long and probably boring, but its important to us southern wheelers. We've helped you guys by signing petitions and voting for your causes so were asking for a little help in return. Printing and signing this petition can help open doors to wheeling opportunities in LA.
One of the main things currently preventing private landowners from allowing groups to wheel on their land is a fear of being sued for anything and everything that may happen on their property.
Last year, to help increase recreation opportunites for off roaders in Louisiana, the state legislature passed a bill allowing land owners limited liability when hosting off road events. Unfortunately, the sponsoring legislator called an ATV shop for advice on how to define an off road vehicle. Because of this, the bill defines an off road vehicle as one under 1500 lbs, which, needless to say, excludes us. When this was pointed out to the legislator he seemed willing to try to amend the bill this coming session to include us. He doesn't expect much opposition, but support from "the people" never hurts.
To aid in amending the bill, some La 4x4 members, like 'em or not (I no longer associate with them), got in touch with some lawyers and drafted a petition to present to the legislature, showing citizen support for the change and highlighting some of the positive impacts that full size vehicle off road events can bring to the state.
As with any petition the goal is to get as many signatures as possible. Here's what I ask.: Go to the petition link on a computer with Adobe http://la4x4forum.ipbhost.com/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=27900
Print out some copies and have your girlfriends, wives, roomates, parents, friends, coworkers, extended family, strangers, etc sign them. It doesnt cost much but paper and postage (and the paper is free if you print them at school or work). Then mail your completed petitions to:

Thanksgiving is a great opportunity to get a bunch of signatures at once. Please take a little bit of time and act on this opportunity, there's really nothing to lose..
THANKS!
