Ok, I want to go with a 2.5-4" lift on my FJ60. After talking to Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters, I'm thinking the OME is out (too expensive), so I'm leaning towards either the Pinnacle deluxe kit from JT Outfitters
or the Man-a-Fre kit (with OME shocks)

what are peoples thoughts, suggestions. Have you used them, heard good/bad things about them.

I ran Skyjacker Softride 4" springs for 2 years and really liked them. I then did the SOA conversion and wondered why the hell I wasted money on a 4" lift.... ;-)

Hmm, just got an updated qoute from Kurt, so I think instead of the MAF kit I would go with the OME from him (total around $1470 for the complete OME kit)

the biggest problem with SOA, is that I have a short GF, and a 2.5" with 33" tires is already going to piss her off.

my wife is 5'3", 105# soakin wet....she complains about the climb too...

but she never complains about the nice ride or the rigs capabilities...at least not since the SOA

IMO, it's just another good excuse to get behind her give her a boost to get in... <wink>

ummmmm, it's a 60 not a 40, AFAIK Skyjacker don't make a suspension for a 60 ;)

But I would go OME, got OME on 4 of my Cruisers, LOVE em, not cheap but great stuff. Nice thing about OME is you can turn a meduim spring into a light or a heavy, pull or add a leaf.

Also how about Alcan? they make em any way ya want em

MAF=JT=TPI=McCoy Springs

My POINT was the SOA versus lift springs... :p

and doesn't BDS have a 60-series lift too??

BDS has a lift. I put it on my 62 back a couple years ago. Ride was initally real stiff but it began to settle in then I sold it. New owner says its great.

I was impressed witht the fit and finish of the spring packs.

I've got the TPI 2.5" and as far as ride goes, it pretty much sucks. I'm not really complaining. It doesn't bother me much but it can be pretty bone jarring. In fact I know someone who did an soa on a 60 with OME springs and his rides like a cadalliac compared me mine. Flex is o.k. but nothing to write home about.

I think the whole kit cost about $1100 about 3-4 years ago. All of the components except the springs are OME.

If every thing goes the way I hope, I'll be pulling and selling my springs this spring.

BDS!

well, the ole, "which lift do i get...?" yeah Old Man Emu makes some great stuff. but after some research, i think everyone can agree, that when you are messn with springs, NONE of them are made exactly the same. for example, my roomate ran OME on his 40, and loved it. when i lifted my 60, i went with BDS, and wouldnt ever look back. after my roomy sold his 40, and bought a '90/62, he put OME on it, and hated it. he went through, i bet 3 different spring setups, ie:heavy, med. etc... I love my BDS. it was cheaper than the OME, and by my observation, works as well as any out there. i matched it up with Daystar shackles, and Rancho 9000 adjustibles. i will say this...OME makes great stuff and comes highly reccomended in the "cruiser world".
i guess you should ask yourself what kind of driving you doin, is this gonna be your dd, do yo plan on wheelin pretty hard, are you goin with bigger tires in the future, etc...
just my opinion.

This is a very good point to consider. Can you at some point see ditching the lift springs in lieu of an SOA? If so, then you are really just shooting yourself in the foot doing lift springs.

A 60 with a 2.5" lift and 33" tires looks real good, and can do a lot on the trail. If this is where you want to end up, then by all means go for it.

Luckily, I bought my truck with the lift on it. So I didn't have to suffer the expense.

It's my DD, that I will try to run some trails around here with. now I am from Utah, so I will be going to CM04, and want to see what I can do. I'm going to kick it up to 33" tires. I think that covers it.

"LandCruiser...cause everything else just sucks..."
you should change your sig to "LandCruiser...cause everything else is cheaper..." ;) :D

Its more time and money, but I have never heard of anyone that wasnt happy with a spring over and stock springs.

just my 2 cents...

OH ya...my 2c... forgot.

go SOA...much muuuuuuch nicer, and it looks like oem sorta...The springs arent like the golden gate bridge... if ya know what i mean, IMO the SOA is the best way to go...and it you could sell it for way more in the long run..

Holy Sherpa Post Batman!
I have 4" BDS on my 40, and 2" on the front of my 60. After two years of beating the shit out of my 40, I finally took two leaves out of each pack, and now it works pretty well. The 2"-er's on the 60 ride nice enough, but the shackle is freakin straight up and down. I think ccot's idea of same rate, longer springs is waaay overdue, and are reasonalby priced. I have alcans on the back of the 60, and they are damn nice. I'd have no qualms recommending them...
