Peter,

You'll have to tell us the intended use of the truck. Will it be a dedicated trail rig or will it be used a daily driver?

If it is a trail truck then I would go with
a bias ply tire such as the TSL SX or TSL Bogger. For street use go with a radial like
the TSL radial or SSR.

Hope this helps..

I'll second that. I went with the 36x12.50 tsl's (that I still haven't sold) and now I have a set of 38.5x14.50's comming in the mail. 36's look small......

dont get the ssr's they suck , i would go sx's very tough good traction ..

i saw at least ten ssr's get bad side wall damage at this years rubithon three were in our group ...

SX, without question. I've got the 38.5's but the 38's and 36's are also quite nice. Remember tho, that stretching over 35-36" diameter is also gonna tax your Birfs just that much more. I know Nolen (38 SX's) is upping to D60's and Reuben (35 SX's) is doing the same on his new truck.

Tough tire, adequate on the street. Sipe the centers and you have a decent all year round tire. Mine worked great with 4psi and siped centers on snow rides this past winter.

The regular bias are a good tire, but nothing compared to the SX. SSR's and the radial are weak in the sidewall, but have nicer road characteristics. 8" wide rims will limit you to a 12.5 tire section, but some folks do push 14.5 tires on 8" rims.

The rims probably come with either 3.5 or 3.75 backspacing...you want 3.5 or 3.25 and may have to special order them.

i had the 35 15.5 sx's all summer, did my motor swap and i just orderd the 38.5x14.5 sx's, its a brute tire. and i drive mine on the street everywhere and they are fine! jiMMy

I had the 36-12.5 15R's and loved them. Never a side wall problem like the thin walled SSR's. I now have 36-14.5 15r's and had to do a lot more cutting of the front fenders but worth it. The radials will give you much better milliage and will flex on the rocks just fine with 8 lbs. of air and never come off the rims.

i think im gona go w/ the tsl radials...one thing i want to keep in mind though is rpm on the freeway..right now w/ my 33's and overdrive i cruise at 2000 rpm at 70 mph..i want it higher than that so i can have some power..i am planning a gear swap after my tires/wheels..if i got 36's w/ 4.88's, and overdrive, im assuming my rpm will be higher, possibly 2500-ish?? i know getting a 36 doesnt necesarily mean its a real 36 inches..i could go 38's, i have the clearance, but i just want 36's since it seems everyone is going to 38's..
it'll be driven everyday to school on the freeway, wihch isnt a big deal, since im not too concerned about ride quality at all...it will get wheeled whenever possible, whether its holisterhills, rubicon or some urban wheeling...now i jsut have to save some money for the rubbers
