Just about lost mine in a river. Engine compartment about 18" under water for 10 minutes.

...I'm STILL replacing shit. Alternator just went. seized and spun a wheel bearing. Made my ass REAL wet.

EDIT:

I should add, the aircleaner was dry as a bone; only a MINOR hydrolock because I was missing an exhaust gasket

Well I see your computer is up and you are on the BB again. Pat wants to know if you still have the bumper for sale? What did you do to the computer? Did you try what we talked about? Have you tried swapping it with a friends 22re computer yet? Any error codes?

I sunk mine near the springs in June of this year. Pulled the plugs and shot in some wd40. Turned it over about a hundred times, drained the oil, and fired her up. I guess I was lucky, cause the next day the battery was deep celled and the starter was shot. No problems other than that. Good luck.

I have drowned a number of toyotas includeing a tacoma that would never start again (someone I know did that) but I have always pulled the truck out, oull the plugs and fire it up and make it run at high RPM. It sounds like shit and doesnt want to drive home, drain everyting, replace, and then fire it up and keep it running. It one time kept throwing the check engine light but I just ignored it.

Also, now when you step on the brakes, the emergency flashers come one and when you go to use the blinkers the break lights blink real rapidaly. Pretty funny.

fyi...insurance companys always total vechiles that have been in flood waters, because after a short time they always have problems with the wiring harneses coroding. so if i were you i would take the time to unplug ever wiring connector on your rig and clean it the best you can. then use lots of dilectric grease on the conectors. do the same for all of the grounds. good luck getting behind the dash.

If your battery is not at or above 12 volts, the truck will be hard to start and keep running, especially if the alt is fried.
I sank my 22RE in the creek at Pismo one high tide and pulled the plugs, spit water 20 feet and the drove it for a day in the dunes and then home to Ventura with a blown headgasket.

I put my Isuzu Trooper into a creek at night once. Ended up spending the night there with the front end in the water all night. The starter went tits up a week later but other than that it was fine.

May be a late post but oh well. A buddy of mine dunked his and the puter was fine. After he drained everything he decided to buy a harness from Painless Wiring and forgo any future problems (corosion). Has worked since and has never had a problem. Just me $.02
