I was wondering if anyone on this board has run the Cottonwood Creek trail by Sagauro Lake? I just got done reading the trip report from the second group from my club who had to leave vehicles due to breakage. Some friends and I went out to check it out last weekend and as we were heading in another group was limping out busted up pretty good. We walked the 1/4 mile rock section and it looks pretty fawking nasty. Doable but nasty. Anyway it dumps out into a Cove at the lake. I want to run it when the rock fridge is done and I was wondering if the cove it dumps into is the elusive Sandy Beach we've been searching for. Here's the link to my club's newsletters if you want to read the reports. There's one under Sept. and 2 under Oct.

of the lake where a lot of the boats beach and hang out for the
day posing.....if that helps.

Thanks Jay, one of my friends flew over the Lake and said he saw a big sandy beach with a trail leading to it. We've been looking for it, and I guess we found it. (Un)fortunately there's a 1/4 mile section of truck eating rocks in the middle. We had 4 trucks and only one was locked at both ends so there was no way we were going to try it. We walked it to check it out but got tired about a mile from the lake and turned around. It looks like fun and we plan to return in a few months better prepared.

I think were going to head back out in a few weeks. I'll have to walk, the Rock Fridge is still not running and there's no way I'm sacrificing the Taco to those rocks. You definately won't be disapointed. The tough section is a solid 4.5 in my opinion. We're going to try to get Sean to go when he gets back from Moab but other then him you'll be the only one who's well setup. I'd love to watch you guys run it and take some pics. We'll see when Sean gets back but probably the weekend before Jamboree.

Ok I'll see if we can't push it out a bit. I'll let you know when we have a date.

No problem, I'm sure we can push it out at least until the after the Jamboree. It'll probably be a Saturday if that works for everyone. I'll be on foot but I'd love to watch some built trucks attack it. I'll bring some spare Birfs too <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
