Why do the manufacturers skip 9" wheels and go straight from 8 to 10? If I get extended flares for my TJ, I don't want to buy new 8" wheels, and 10 inchers are going to stick out, even with the wider flares. 9" is the perfect compromise. Why can't I buy some 767's 9" wide with 4" backspacing?? The rat bastards

Why don't you want 8's??? you realize wheels come in differant backspacing to move them in or out right? I say run 8's, I only know 2 people who have had problem with keeping tires on the rims and they had 10" aliminum wheels so I would stay away from those. Also some Centerline wheels come in 8.5"

Id be willing to bet it's so the manufactures don't have to have more dies/tools machines, etc. So to save money.

I'd say because the market for a 9" wheel can easily be shifted to either 10" wheels or 8" wheels. You can get an 8" wheel with the proper amount of backspacing to get the tire to go wherever you want in relation to the fenders.

probably not common 'cuz most vehicles pretty much have one size that fits...it's the crazy wheelers that start playin' with wider rims (and we're not THAT big of a group)so the manufactures keep thier tool cost down. Ya know some one some where wants a 7.25 for them 33X9.5's
