I kept having this wierd loud noise coming from my windshield. I think, I finally figured out what it was but why?? where the roll bar mounts up to the front windshield on the passenger side, the bolt on mount is cracking. this piece comes off the round tube and is sorta flat and two bolts hold it to the windshield. the flat piece has a crack radiating from the round tube outward almost to the end of the square flat piece. What would cause this??? Just old age and metal fatigue over time? i just put in a detroit locker, could this extra torque roll be causing the body/frame to flex more and this just turned out to be a weak spot??

Seems weird that could be the cause of the weird noise because it's on the inside. If you have a welder I would weld up the cracks but my guess is your still going to have a noise. Better yet lose the stock bars that attach to the windshield and do a full cage.

Go with a full cage. I wouldnt trust a crack in any part of my cage during a rollover. Ditch the factory spreader bars or weld them into whatever cage design you decide to do. The life you save may be your own.

trade it in for a liberty. You'll be much happier, and it won't have the irritating noises. <IMG SRC="smilies/crybaby2.gif" border="0">
