my search must have been vague because I'm sure this has been discussed. here are a few ques for the x-perts?

1. will the 82 X-fer case meet w/85 5spd?

2. will the two X-fer cases meet with adapter?

3. I understand the TPS on the 85 22re differes from the 84. Is this a direct swap?

4. What other parts from and 85 would you take?? I have an 82/frame and suspension and an 84 cab and 22re motor from a 2wd.

NoW.... Lets hear from the gallery. I know everyone has opinions!!

If anyone from PA is near New Holland....I came across a parts truck.... Let me know what you need and I'll see if it's worth taking the whole thing... There is no sheet metal... Alright... Let me have it! IS ON ME!!

Want a 86 transfer case? I've got a extra 86 case and a extra 80 case. There are some minor differences but if memory serves me, you can mount any gear case to the 85 tranny.

Flimmy.... I'll go if I can find a locker to stuff in this thing.... I really didn't want to put a locker in until after the dual x-fer cases but I'd like to go on this run. I'm running 33x12.50 MT/Rs so I'm sure I'll do OK. I've owned the truck for about a month now and it has yet to be on the trail because of its original condition.(no brakes) I redid the brakelines and waiting for an LSPV and then it will be ready to move. I have allpros waiting to go in up front, still contemplating the rears, x-over waiting to be shipped. anyway, I have a 4spd in it now and I want to go to the 5spd. There is a donor 85 close to me but I have no way of telling what 5spd it is.... ARGGGG and then I have to deal with wheter or not the xfer cases will mate and then the driveshaft.... I like learining but All at once... DAMN!!

DogDenII if you get the 85 take one of the thirds and weld it,cheap locker. The trans and t-case from the 85 will be longer than the 4spd that you have now,the crossmember is in a different spot also.I have a 5spd from an 83 and an 84 4runner with a 5spd in it,so I measured from the bell housing to trans mount on both and found out that the 79-83 mounts are closer to the eng that the 84-up trucks. If you want a 5spd I will sell you the 83 5spd w/t-case that I have for $150.You will be able to use your t-case from the 4spd for a dual case also. The newer trans is said to be a better or stronger trans too( the 85).I hope I will see you in oct.

Dog, I'll take 100 each for the cases, I've also got a set of 80 axles with 4:38's in them. There's also a set of 4" over, 1" relocated Alcan front springs coming up in Nov. After I go 4 link out front.

Great information Flimmy. Which 5spd is it?? numbers? also, what is the condition of the tranny and x-fer case. I really don't want to get into rebuilding just yet. What area are you in? how far from Lancaster, PA? We can take this over to email if you want to [email protected] I am interested but need some information. Thanks
