Im kinda new at 4wheeling so help me out, Im about to finish my project Dana 44's front and rear with 6cyl and ax-15 to Np231 pretty much stock running gear, I am running 4.56 gears will it crawl as well as it did with my 33's,since now Ill be running 37 boggers I dont want to waste any money for a 4 to 1 in the np231. I want an Atlas later on down the road so any ideas besides lower ring and pinion??or will this setup be ok? I want it to still be low geared for down hill. thanks guys.

The ring and pinion are fine but you will be wanting that Atlas 4.3 and a real trany as soon as you can get one. If you are new to wheeling it wont be a big deal because you won't be ready to go where an atlas and 37" boggers will be capable of takeing you.

"Dana 35's front and rear 30x9.50 BFG AT's..Hardcore Texas Wheeler "

Might wanna edit this, lest you get flamed. You got a 35 in the rear and a 30 in front unless you have done one of the few D35 front swaps. Kind of oxymoronic when followed by Hardcore Wheeler.

I'll just give myself this now:

hey guys when I said Im new to wheeling I dint mean that new ok! I dont drive my heep every day any more and yes I want an Sm 465 hooked to an atlas but not until I throw a v8 in it. So I was just wondering if it would still crawl alright with the setup I got now. And yes Dana 35's front and year is what I got the front is a portal 35C sweet axle.

u dont wanna go anylower with the ring and pinion, and u dont wanna do 4 to 1 or atlas right now, and u ask for suggestions how to lower the crawl ratio , what u should do is just keep your portal 35cs, they are way more bad ass than 44s, and guys in case u didnt know he sales these axles and will be takn orders soon, i sold my one ton stuff to pick up a set of these bad boys
why dont u show them a pic of these bad boys

What is the 1st gear in a ax15?
1st X 2.72 X 4.56= ? Anything less the 60 with 37's won't be much fun on the rougher trails unless you run beadlocks and 5psi or less.

I think Deans comment on the bead locks is you can air down alot further with BLs which makes the tire size effectively smaller which helps out your low range ratio ( I won't call 47:1 crawl

also with less air they might soak up a few more bumps at the speed you'll be bashing over stuff, that might help

It won't crawl horrible but not as good as it did with 33's (did you even have to ask that) Also I don't think it will be a problem going down hills going up will be where you will really notice the lack of crawl. It should be livable however until you get an atlas, and Deans idea of airing way down aint a bad one it will not only help crawl but traction and ride quality too.
