I tried a search and couldn't find what I was looking for, so...
I have an 85 4runner. Currently I am running 33's but eventually (when they are worn out) I am going to get 35's. So I what I am wondering is, if I regear to 5:29's now, will the 5:29's make my rpm's too high until I purchase my 35's? Or should I just get 4:88's? I really want the 5:29's. Thanks for the help.

5.29's with 33's is almost the same as the original 4.10 gears with the stock 235/75/15 tires. That should work very well.

It will be a little high, but definately worth it if you are gonna go to 35s later. If you were staying with 33s I would go with 4.88s. There is no way you want to regear twice so go with the 5.29s and don't look back...

they're right. I have 4.88's right now cause I thought I would stay with 33's. Now that I am ready to lift the truck I kinda want 35's. Just go with the 5.29's.

I was going to ask you that. I have no idea what tranny you have. If it has OD it is probably 0.7 to 0.8:1

Do ya still have the 4.88's layin' around? I really want 5.29's but for the right price 4.88's would work. I can always do dual cases later on down the road.

when I was looking for gears, the 4.88's and the 5.29's where almost the same price. I got my 3rds from randys ring and pinion. I haven't had any problems yet, I have about 1700 miles on the new gears.
