i currently weld with a millermatic mig on 220 single phase with a 50 amp breaker.ive got to do some welding in our other shop which only has 220 single phase but on a 30 amp breaker.can i make up my own short ext cord with the 3 prong 50 amp plug on one end and the 220 30 amp 3 prong twist in plug on the other end?will this work?:confused:

Yes, you may trip the 30 amp breaker if you run it hard.
I actually run a 3 phase plug with only two hots connected, so I can just plug in the 3 phase auto change over machines at work

The welder only requires 50 amps at max setting. Depending what you are welding say 3/8" or less you should be fine.
