Tell her you need $1200.00 for best winch and get front & rear lockers and gears! Most wives dont know the difference btween lockers and winches!

I got a winch first lockers and gears second!

You could just get all of them at the same time & tell her you'll make it up to her!!

What can I say.

Don't lie to her. Just get her into wheeling instead and she will soon come to see why you need both.

Personally, I put in lockers first and carried a HiLift (you need one anyway) with the accessories needed to winch if I had to. Never had to winch out of a situation that way, though - ride with a buddy if at all possible.

The smart thing would be to go winch first, I guess. Not as fun to me, but "all the other accessories will always get you stuck and a winch will always get you unstuck" ( I think that is a qupote from Bill Burke).

gears and lockers first. then the winch. if you run with other trucks (you should), usually someone will have a winch and if not they will have a snatch strap.

Lockers first. If you have lockers, you will rarely need the winch. Which was my last mod. And I have never needed to be winched. So Far!

Definatly lockers! it makes a world of differance in wheeling, and its alot less exercise to get through the hard parts of the trail when compared to a winch

Get the lockers! First get stuck! Then worry about getting out. You will use the lockers every trip and only use the winch every once and a while.

sup quaker? Dude go with lockers first. I say build it so it dosent get stuck and you dont have to use the winch. Well thats my theory anyway. I will be getting the winch sometime in the next year I will pull you out if you get stuck anyway

it depends on how you wheel. In oregon where you are some off the trails can get fubar'd pretty quick.last weekend in the rain i had to winch once due to mud once due to some ass kickin a 2 1/2 foot boulder down the hill into my jeep(tjoop)which lodged under it. and had to be winched backwards in the boulder feild.but if you arent going to do anything that will get you stuck then id do lockers other wise a winch or just get some chrome diff covers and pretend you have lockers!

I say get the winch. all lockers do is let you get stuck where other people can not come and help you cause they are not locked. Also if you ever go wheeling by your self (I know your not suposed to but I don't hve many people around here to ride with) and you get stuck you will really aprceiate it. Then get the lockers and gears.
Remember lockers get you into trouble, a winch gets you out.

Lockers only if you ride with well equiped rigs. Otherwise, play it safe and get the winch. Besides, if you can afford two lockers, you should be able to afford one locker and a winch.

you all make sense. most of the time when i go to the mountians it is just the wife and i in her jeep. yes, i admit it is her jeep. but she lets me drive when we go into the mountians!
i sorta like the idea of a winch and being able to get unstuck if i am in the mountains by myself. but then again i am in the process of trying to talk the wife into the winch and a loc-rite for the rear. i have heard that the loc-rites are great and cheap.
what do you all think of loc-rite lockers?
i wont be going with any gears yet due to money.

a lockright would be perfect for you because i dont think youd be full on bashin stuff so you wouldnt break it and they are priced right for budget minded people.

Sounds like you have the best plan now. A LockRight and a lower priced, depandable winch like a Warn M8000 or Ramsey REP8000 would be great. Do you have any kind of factory traction device in the rear? If so, then goody goody. Right now I am running a front locker and rear TracLoc and it works great.
