I've been running this setup for about a year now, and finally got around to doing a write-up on it.

Here's a couple teaser pics for ya (shrunk them to let pageloads go faster for the dial-up guys. the full size versions are HERE.

I'll try to move it to the webspace provided by the university tonight. I'll fix the post if I do, since I can link images from there.

Well, I moved it to the university server space (which I'd forgotten I had) since you can't link to images from AngelFire.com, and came back and edited this bad boy... So we're good to go now!

See you got it half right. I flipped the stock aircleaner tube around routed it out the corner of the fender wall and then flipped up and then ran the entire 22re tube up the windshield pillar to a big K&N it even had a little kickout to clear the fender

Your system is something I thought of doing... except that I didn't want the filter outside the vehicle, since I go offroading pretty much every weekend, and would COAT the thing in mud. See the pics above? Those were taken right AFTER I pressure washed about 30 pounds of mud off the truck. The airfilter would get the same treatment every weekend, and I'd go broke re-oiling the stupid thing.

Also, I wanted it to tuck in tighter to the fender that that does. Out west you just have to worry about rocks coming up... Not trees to the sides and branches hanging down. You can't even squeeze a pinky-finger between my snorkel and the body. The fender sticks out farther to the side than my setup, so I've only managed to hang it up on a tree once. (my fault - bad line)

Thats cool. But just FYI I ran mine for years full time (rain, snow, mud, bugs whatever) without problems and never re-oiled it. I'm lasy. I also had enough black sylicone holding it on there I could grab it with both hands and shake the truck. It didn't want to come off when I had to pull it. Just a comarison pic with the same tube.

So did you just silicone it to the sheetmetal? Mines held on with eight self-tapping screws, and some FAT silicone to keep the evil-eyed rust monster at bay. Seems to be on quite well (didn't come off when I hit it with the previously mentioned tree)

I do like the idea of using the stock intake tube like you did, though. Very creative.

Hey! You used a safari snorkel. That's cheating! Plus, I didn't have $200 to throw at a piece of formed plastic. Some of us are saving for an SAS and kicking ourselves for not buyin' and 85. Again.
