Last night me and my g/f were riding home on Hwy 60 when her jeep threw the Serpentine belt. So we stopped and thanks to Po'riggity we installed a new one. And we noticed that the water pump pully was moving around a lot even after the new belt was installed and tight. We checked the bolts on the pully, and they were all torqued. So we started it up again and promplty threw the new belt. Well, after 4 hours of sitting and working on the side of the road, we called it quits and called a tow truck. And $220 later, I'm home with now two broken jeeps.
My question. If the water pump fails and overheats, could the shaft warp causing the pully to move around violently as it spins?
Why else would that pully be moving around so much causing it to throw the belt?
Please help, this is our primary vehicle.
It's a 94 Jeep XJ 4.0l Automatic, with A/C.
Thanks in advance.
