I've got an lt1 for my cj and with my build being on a tight budget, i'm looking to save money any way i can. so, my cousin has an xj for parts that had a 4.0 in it. will the fuel pump off of it put out enough psi for the lt1? thanks.

Should be enouph pressure, xj is like 39, and lt1 is like 50, but the xj pump should put out way more before stalling like 100. I wouldn't go through too much efort to install it though as it may not put out enouph volume, and you may find the engine falling off around 5500.

Summit has an external pump SUM-G3138 for $80, or MSD 2225 for $95. Each puts out 85PSI and 43GPH. Both will feed your LT1. Consider this when looking at the time to make the XJ pump work.

The pressure of the pump is regulated by the FPR on the return line. Its GPH you need to worry about. But the XJ pump should be enough for the motor. What size injectors on the LT1? You must figure out your flow rate to see if it would work. I don't have a LT1, But I am running a turbo charged inline 6 running 30 pound injectors. I want to say the LT1 motor is set at 26 pounders? Run a Adjustable FPR on the return line and install a guage on the supply line and make sure your running at least 65 PSI under full load. You should be fine at that level dependent on your fuel injector requirements. Any more then 26* and look into a higher flowing pump.

I have a LT1 in my YJ and I am running a E2000 inline fuel pump from Auto Zone. The stock injectors on a LT1 are 3.0gps, 22lbs/hr speed density (1992-1993), 24lbs/hr mass airflow (1994-1997). Also the LT1 has a built in fuel regulator on the fuel rail and there is a valve steam that you can hook up a gauge to. The LT1 runs 45psi in the fuel rails stock. Here is a site to check out to help http://www.ls1lt1.com/forum/showthread.php?t=209 , Also check out http://shbox.com/page/index.html for a lot of good info on LT1s.

With that info put out, then yes, a stock pump will work.
