Hey, I know this is going to sound gay but...

My buddy has an Xterra and he was digging my EB rock crawler project. I told him we could SAS his, lift it up a bit, lock it and put some skiis on it and it'd be good to go.

He's down but he's looking to keep his ABS... I don't know nothing about no stinking ABS... Idears?

No reason he shouldn't be able to keep his ABS. The new super duty's have solid front 60's and they have ABS. I'm sure that you can find a D44 with ABS on it too or get a ABS sensor installed on it.

Tell him to take the abs out and throw it in the trash. I have had mine dissabled for many miles and the only difference is when I go offroading the brakes work better. Abs is for yuppies that speed on the highways, if he goes sas, he will be riding in a tall big tired rig that shouldn't be speeding in the rain.;) It might be possible to find a d44 equiped vehicle with abs, or some brake system that will fit a d44, and just splice the Nissan wires to the new ones at the hubs.

ABS works great on-road, sucks off-road. My buddy drives like 120 miles per day for work, so it would need to keep the good handling characteristics of stock.

No big tires and not huge lift. 35's and a few inches of lift would do just fine. He doesn't need to run the box, just have some fun.

Thanks for all of the responses!

You might be able to adapt the existing parts. The ABS sensor basically counts the notches in the tone ring attached to the hub. The tone rings are cheap around $5 each if I remember right. It's a press fit on the back side of the Nissan hub. You might be able to weld it onto whatever hub you end up using and then it's just lengthening the harness to get the sensor relocated.

if your buddy give the ABS thing a shot and busts up any of the Nissan sensors drop me a line. I have an '02 SC Frontier frame (2wd with 4x4 suspension) sitting in my back yard with all those gizmos dangling off of it. Heck, if you need anything off of the frame let me know. I need to get rid of this thing.
