I have an 87 Yj that is on tons with a 350 tranny and a 205 tcase. It has 35s now but I am going to upgrade to around 40,s. I am installing flat fenders and comp cutting the rear.

I had a guy build me a 350 engine for it and it lasted about 1000 miles then spun a bearing and he won't make it right. I could spend the money and rebuild it again and spent alot of money again OR install a good 454 bbc that I already have sitting here. Whats your alls opinion on the big block?

I would do the 454. Thats the route I am going with my 88YJ. 454 TH400 and NP241, with a Hi pinion D44 front and D70 rear. I am gutting a 89 Chevy 3500 for everything but the front axle. I am also going with propane on the 454. The weight isnt that much more than a 350 or 305.
