I need to know if there are any axles that are better than the Dana 30, yet have the same lug pattern as a stock YJ. I don't want to have different lug patterns front to rear. I know that I could have custom shafts made for the rear, I was just wondering if there is a decent axle with the YJ lug pattern. Thanks in advance.

I would love to go with a 60 but I got a good deal on my 8.8 and I really don't have the cash to get a 60, but one day I'll be there.

Get yourself a Dana 44 with 5x5.5 bolt pattern so you can run real hubs. The plastic hubs you have to run with 5x4.5 pattern are weak. Then, just order some 5x5.5 axleshafts for your 8.8. It'll only run you a couple hundred for that. You could also redrill your current 8.8 axles to 5x5.5 pattern though there is just barely enough surface area to do that. Works for me at least.

Just run adapters on the 8.8. they will only run you about $100, the billet aluminum ones are bulletproof, and you can run any junkyard axles shafts as spares. It will also widen the slightly narrow Explorer shafts anyways.
I have been running them for years. I use Superior High strength shafts as my primary axle shafts, but I just order them in the standard 5 on 4 1/2 configuration.

I put a waggy axle in the front of my YJ and a 8.8 rear. the front was a 6-lugger full floating so I got some wheel adapters made for the rear. converted it to 6 on 5.5. They were expensive but strong as hell!

Charly,
That was my plan all along.
I have been plotting to get everyone to run the same gear as me, so that I will have more access to spare parts on the trail.
Unfortunately, even though, my plan seemed to be working, I am currently planning D60 swaps for the front and rear in the next few months.
The 5.0 has just been brutal on my current drive train.

I have the TBI 350, NV4500 and EB D20 that I will be swapping in next spring, so , sorry we won't be exactly alike. 60's (or a 60 and 14 Bolt) will have to wait. And I'm going with 38s.

And no, I haven't gained weight, the pic is to highlight the teeth.
