i remember hearing somewhere that a york is a direct bolt in on a 258...is this true or am i smoking crack.

The York IS a bolt on on california 258s with the serpentine belts. It bolts directly to the bracket the idler pulley mounts to. Just remove the idler and replace with the york. You do need a sepentine clutch for the York.
