You all said it had to be done to fit coilovers so I did it!

Taking the advice of the POR gurus I notched the frame of my CJ-7 to make sure I have room for the perty new set of Fox Coilovers. Is this a functional splice or is it going to break!

:D

Looks like it will hold. The only thing that I would have done would have been to skip the 90* cuts. I would have tapered them, mainly just for the smoother, cleaner look.
I will say you have bigger balls than I, for cuttin up your frame like that.

the steel on the inner part of a cj frame is thinner then the outer, you may want to tie the outer part to the gussit a little more:p
Planning on more gussets, want to set the 4 link under there and see where I can add them..

Also doing something for a little cosmetic improvement...

to quote Jerry Caesar in Dragnet:

Reverend, you've got balls the size of church bells

Better FAWKERS :flipoff2:

Sherpa, I will pull the tires off to see how wide I will be going with the new HP60 rear seems like about 8" wider then the original CJ-7 track width..

why not just run them inside the frame rails??

running them inside the rails causes 2 issues:

the side-to-side efficiency goes way down, and it takes up

alot of space inside the tub. also might complicate gas-tank

routing, and other misc stuff.

Looks pretty stout to me man...:cool2:
Hmm, how wide are your axles WMS to WMS and what's your tire offset?

Would changing either of those things have let you keep your frame intact? :D

Looks great, though!
