The problem is obvious, and here's my frankenstein solution. It is a boat anchor (about 15lbs) but I figure it's protecting the weakest piece of gear in my drivetrain.

When I was reassembling the 4:1 kit in the new housing, I noticed this on the low range drive spur. It is surely from added stress on the main shaft in low range with the gear box, but I wanted to see how bad everyone thought it was?

I still shifts great and doesn't have a bunch of play or backlash in it, so I"m gonna run it (but I'll carry spare parts :)

Hey Foley;

Looks like you built one of Bill4rest buckets. It should work well for you.

as for the gears, just polish the rough edges and run them. :D
