If you want to hit the trails in style, the Off Road Expo is the first place to start the process.

Camo and I lined out three reasons to go to the Off Road Expo on Pirate4x4 TV Live last week:

  1. To see some cool vehicles and new products.
  2. To hang out with your buddies, have a beer and check out the chicks.
  3. To buy cool parts.

We headed down to Pomona, CA, and succeeded at checking all three objectives off the list. Of couse Camo was checking out all the chicks, and I bought a couple cool Christmas Presents!

The show continued its reputation for having the largest assortment of Off Road vehicles and accessories in one place at one time. Your eyes almost started to get overwhelmed with the amount of polished aluminum, billet and spectacular paint jobs that graced the presence of some of these vehicles. The amount of King of the Hammer style Rock Buggies in the show this year was overwhelmingly impressive for a show that has historically been standard Jeeps and Trucks with bolt on accessories. There was also no shortage of Trophy Trucks or sweet pre runners.

This show always brings out the off road industry's leaders who work their booths with vast knowledge to add value to conversations. Celebrities who joined their cars on display included Ricky Johnson, BJ Baldwin, Casey Currie, Ian Johnson, Jason Scherer, Mustard Dog, Nicole Johnson, Chris Ridgway, Dave Schneider and many more. Groups of buddies lined the aisles and girls in short skirts grabbed their attention...ok, so it wasn’t the girls...it was the fine parts that they were there showing...well, you know what I mean.

Some of the big news of the weekend came from the King of the Hammers group. They announced on Saturday morning the details of the 2010 Griffin King of the Hammers and also lined out two new event series for the Ultra4 Class –the International Endurance Championship & the Grand Slam of Offroad. Pirate4x4 TV Live covered this exclusive event here:

Following the King of the Hammers announcement, BFGoodrich introduced a spectacular Land Use program where they will be donating $5 to the BlueRibbon Coalition for each of its new 10 sizes of BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tires sold between August 2009 and December 2009. Read the full story here:

Also on the announcement list was Casey Folks, Director of Best in the Desert racing association, and Travis Roffler, director of marketing for General Tire, made the exciting news of General Tire being named Official Tire of Best in the Desert series for three years, starting with the 2010 season.

If you were looking for some action, there was a lot going on in every corner of the fairgrounds. In one corner was the M.O.B. Freestyle Motocross jumping off every two hours. In another area Team Extreme BMX threw out the motors and did some of the most extreme tricks that I never thought were possible. In the far corner, there was an RC car course set up for speed and agility. And finally therer were the Yamaha and CanAm demo areas where you could drive a vehicle and see which one was perfect for you.

All in all, it was another great weekend with all of our friends at the Off Road Expo in Pomona, CA. The epicenter of the Off Road arena showed all its colors yet again!
