That's how I've always done it in the past but I could never find a glue that would stick the pads to the steel brackets permanently and then sand and moisture would always collect beneath them and cause rust. At least this way if I have the same issues I can just loosen the rad up, move it to the top, clean out the bottom, move it to the bottom, clean out the top, and tigten it all down again.

I think he's asking because a mutual friend of ours who beats his rig hard and is building a rig for him has his radiator rigidly mounted and hasn't had issues. (Yet.)

it is ridgid, but not mounted directly to the radiator... there is a bracket that goes between the radiator and chassis that is aluminum, my thoughts were that the brcket is way more flemsy than the radiator and vibration is absorbed by it... or im just lucky... personally i think it is the way the tanks are made, they are extruded and there is alot of strenght in the tanks... i jump my buggy, it has rolled MANY times and i do beat the piss out of it, no problems after 9+ months...

What rust issues? I don't plan to run straight water. My last chassis I ran it through the actual chassis tubes and after 3 years of wheeling when I cut it apart there was no rust inside ...

So as I've been building I've gone to great lengths to build ultra-low as we all know. Basically my approach has been to go extra-low on everything on the assumption that somewhere something would force me to raise it up a bit. Shoot low so that when I end up high I won't be disappointed. Well I'm almost to the point where nothing is left that would force me to go any higher. To this point I've only been able to approximate ride height due to the fact that the lift doesn't lift the chassis up evenly front to rear. So I had a bit of extra time tonight to make some tubes cut down the sides to prop the shocks up at 50% shaft showing which is where I had planned and I was pleasantly surprised by the results:

5'8" to the tallest point on the cage, 17.5" at the belly.

I think it may be almost too low and the rear end looks a bit too low so I may raise the rear nup another inch or so. But I am VERY happy that the height is turning out not to have to be compromised as a result of rockwells and all the other 10 lbs of shit in the 5lbs bag. :)

Thank you! And thanks again for everything you did when Ashley got hurt. It really meant a lot to both of us. How's your rig running these days? Getting any wheeling done?

J. J.

No problem, Ya'll would have done the same for me. Not alot of wheeling. The trucking business has gone south. I do have A pair of coilovers, Rod ends, and 24' of aluminum to link the front and redo the steering. and eventually coilover and redo the links in the rear. Maybe get that done soon. I need to get mine sitting lower. Thats one of my goals this time around.

Any word on when the links will be coming back? Glad we got something worked out for those upper links..
