so i have the allpro high steer, and was wanting to do an upgrade. marlins looks great, trail gear 6 shooter looks good also. but the question that i have searched for is everyone bags on tg stuff, i understand, but i cant find anyone who says anything bad about the allpro arms. do they not have as many issues as others? i am running 37s, locked, 3 inch spacers, and soon to do hydraulic assist, and longs. i would like to get rid of the weak links. i have looked at the 5th stud option and that looks good to. anyone done that with allpro arms? any suggestions would be appreiciated.

Yeah do a IFS hub swap and run 1'' spacers if you still need the width. And what Fuzzy said, upgrade the studs to ARP or similar and you should be good to go with hydro assist.

It doesn't matter how you get the horrendous scrub radius of the spacers that is the problem... The problem IS the scrub radius so doing smaller spacers and IFS hubs will still suck a dick on the trunion bearings either way. :homer:

My advice would be to use arp studs and make your own 5th stud plate. that has proven to be a very good option and the most cost effective. :D

Trunion bearings? Who needs to worry about those anyway? :flipoff2:

I would also consider marlin's 25mm stud upgrade. I know with marlin's steering arms it's just a press in press out procedure, but with allpro and TG arms I think you need to do some machining. And run japanese trunions, that's the best you can do to protect yourself from such big spacers... which makes me ask why you are even running them?
And X2 on ARP studs and 5th stud. That would leave your factory knuckle itself the weak point.

thanks for all of the ideas. the big questions is why am i running the spacers, well i am trying to get the most width without going tons right now. i have a 14 bolt that has everything done to it waiting in my shop in the corner. but for now i wanted to stay all toy, replace all the weak points and run em till i get tired of fixing broken parts and go tons and 42's.

you should get dually rims and run them dished in for extra width. :D

Everything will fail if you beat it hard enough. I've broken/bent one AP arm, and bent another. Both times I was way out of my element and I knew it (ie I fucked up). AP was more than happy to send me new ones each time. I carry spare TG arms in my trailer box that I got from a buddy for a couple beers (I also carry knuckles) There's nothing wrong w/ AP arms IMO, if I had to buy them again I would in a heartbeat...
anyone have pics of allpro arms with the fifth stud?
just upgrade the studs and you should be good to go
^ This... And search harder http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=646933&highlight=shearing+bolts+steer
