Just in case you were wondering - the Trail Gear "No Questions Asked Lifetime Warranty" isn't exactly no questions asked, or lifetime (of the part)

You have to be the original purchaser and you have to be able to prove it. They do not honor the warranty otherwise.

So if you buy used parts, forget trying to get them replaced under the "No Questions Asked Lifetime Warranty"

Sounds about right....
Why should they warranty their part if it's sold to someone else?

why would you think this is out of the norm? there are very few product out there that the warranty transfers.

i'm not some trail gear groupie, i don't really care, but i think your complaining about this is dumb.

since their direct competitor (longfield) offers the warranty on the lifetime of the PART, I think it would have been safe to assume TG's warranty was the same.

too bad its not

Does the warranty void if the "original owner" purchased through/from a vendor and not directly from Trail Gear ?
Negative. You just need your invoice to prove you bought it.

i'd imagine that trail-gear stands behind their vendors and parts their vendors customers purchased.

I would think a "No questions asked, lifetime" would be, I break it, I return it for a new one requardless if I bought it from them or not. Lifetime of the part, not the owner.

Trail gear is a great vendor had the best customer service I have recieved when buying toyota aftermarket parts. In one case they even took back a broken part even though was not the original buyer. They even sent a box and payed for shipping both ways. Just call them it works better than email in my opinion when trying to get things handled.

This is standard procedure for lifetime warranties, lifetime of the original purchaser, but that's not how it used to be.

I remember when craftsman tools used to be such high quality that you could pass them down to your children in your will cause you expect them to last that long.

Ten years ago I brought two wrenches back to sears that I had welded to a tie rod, and they replaced them still attached to a chunk of the tie rod. I bought a split socket back to sears last month and they wouldn't replace it because they said I had used it with an impact gun.

Welcome to modern warranties.

So you warranty your longs in the rig that they were originally installed in, but if they are sold between rigs, it doesn't count?

Do you still require your hub gears to be installed for your warranty to be valid?

And so you know:
Your 30's are 630$

Plus the cost of hub gears 65$ each side, 130$
http://www.longfieldsuperaxles.com/products/TOYOTA-INNER-HUB-GEAR.html

Yours total cost with lifetime is 760$

Trail gear's are 525$ who don't require the hub gears
http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-162537-toyota-30-spline-chromoly-axles.html

Total cost for Trail gears' 525$

Difference: 760-525=235$
