Ok why the name you might ask? Well most importantly because i won't be able to drive my DD during the winter. Secondly, i'm trying to get it done by thanksgiving time, and i've been getting home around the time it gets dark out evey night, and i'm usually busy atleast 1 weekend day, every weekend. So for me, this is project running out of time.
Ok the fun stuff. I fucked around with several TTB lifts for awhile, said screw that after breaking axles all the time, spent bunchs of money setting up an EB 44 (disc swap, 5.13s, detroit tru trac, etc) just to have it not agree with my wheeling style. In its prime it looked like so:
After breaking another shaft wheeling in the snow, and pricing out chromos, i deceided it wasn't worth it for me to put anymore money into the 44. Around the same time i also scored a COMPLETE 90 F350 dana 60, in great condition for 200 dollars off Craigslist:
Picked up a riddler diff cover for it from a vendor here while a special was going (red looks to bright its darker in person), so have this too:
Was able to trade my old axles/solid axle set up for some cash and 8 bolt H1s, Mag inserts, with tires:
Then a kid from school mentioned he had a built 14bolt that he was getting rid of, it has 4.10s, detroit, shaved, diff protector, already converted to Discs, got that for 500:
Was able to get a 1410 yoke for it off ebay for cheap too:
I had already dovetailed the bed, so i decided to clearance cut it aswell, i'll prob "freshen" up the dovetail while i'm finishing up everything:
Started to clean up the rear frame already, wasn't in to bad of condition, some rust behind the gas tank, I think i'll probably end up using a fuel cell or b2 tank instead of putting the stock tank back in:
So the basic plans are too:
- Inbord the chevy 63s i already have under the frame, using all-pro pivot mounts (jonny joint type thing) out back that i got for a great deal off a club member.
- I plan to box in atleast the areas of the frame these will mount
- Run a mix of toyota rears, and my old ranger rear leafs up front to push the front axle a little more forward
- Retube the Parts mike steering i already have
- A guy at work has a bridgeport, and he said he'd be willing to make me highsteer arms if i got the metal, so i've got to pick up some 1in plate
- Surplus center hydro assit
- Groove the H1s for now, not looking to spend extra money where i don't need to right now.
- Give it a paint job of some sort
- Get 4.10s for the front do so i can drive it in the winter. A doubler and 5.xx gears will come next summer, when i get new tires as well.
I'm going for a clean, simple, reliable build that will still be streetable.
So here she sits in all her beauty:
