Here are a few Pictures from last night. This aluminum piece on the spare tire mount started off as a 6"x6" piece of billet that was machined down to the exact size the the hole it needed to be inserted into. They then put it in the freezer for six hours so that it would shrink enough to where with one good thump it popped right in place. Then it expanded into position. It is wild to see the techniques these guys use.
Thermal interference fit. I hope you never gouge that thing enough to want to replace it because short of cutting it all apart it's not coming out:laughing:

Car looks good. I really enjoy the LED's in the visor area. Light bars are nice and all, but without a linear actuator they just slow you down during the day and everytime you turtle it you kill them. Those seem like a really nice solution as bumper lights only get you so far.

LOOKS GREAT.....

When I was by the other day my 4 year old asked if that "racecar" was for her!!

Good job on getting it done.....Jake looks like a zombie!!!:flipoff2:

Love it, great work boys, now time to work the piss out of it and try to win :D. that said have someone in that buggy at all times its not being worked on before the race to get them bugs out of it, nut and bolt everything everytime out and work it hard. I know i don't gotta tell you guys this, but every new build, espically those built with a rush at the end will have their bugs, hopefully you can get every single one of them worked out.

I just got word that she is sitting on the lakebed. I gotta tell you that it almost brings tears to my eyes. Sooooo much work. There were many times that we did not think we were going to make it in time. New car with a lot of unknowns, but what we do know is that we hit our deadline and did not cut any corners to make it happen. If you have watched this thread and are going to be down there, please give those guys a pat on the back and tell them how much you enjoyed watching it happen. I know it will mean a lot to them.

Good video...but not the one I was hoping for :D
LOL! Me either. :D

I am trying to get some testing video, but communication is few and far between down there. 4WheelParts told us a week or so ago that we could tie into their satellite internet. If that turns out to be the case, then I will make sure to upload some video. I just got word though from one of my guys that the internet connection is not panning out, so we will see.

I told JT I was expecting a call every night from him. I'm living vicariously through a few of them down there.
I would love to see the video of yesterday's testing.....:flipoff2:

Bill, I'd be happy to upload a video after the LCQ tomorrow.

Amazing amount of forethought, engineering, mock ups and fabrication came together with a tremendous team effort.

Like many of us, I have watched this build from the first post, the daily updates and now, the race.

Congratulations in advance for raising the bar again Team Torchmate.

That thing is flat awesome. On the right coast we'd have to strip it back down for paint so it didn't become a rusty mess.

I love this thing. Nice job guys.
