i have a 79 hilux std cab long box that i am trying to put a 5 speed out of a mid 80s in and are having trouble the new trany and transfer case is 4 inches longer than the 4 speed that was in it my thought was to weld nuts to plates and drill holes into the frame where the nuts would need to go and then weld the plates in place to relocate the cross member and shim the trany mount with the same thickness of plate as the plates used to make the new cross member mounts to keep the same angle on the trany as stock. any other sugestions on the swap?

fror style mount or a skidplate crossmember from a company like trail gear

Had truck like that 20 years ago. I believe turning the crossmember around was a quick fix.The rear bolt holes still went into the rear frame holes, but now the front crossmember holes are behind them all. Welded a couple angle tabs to the inside of the frame and bolted the new rear mounting holes to them. Ended up with 3 bolts per side. May have to notch the crossmember for the front driveline now that the notch is on the drivers side.
