I did A propane conversion on my 22re. It now has no power. I rebuilt the engine with 9.5 to 1 pistons, brand new head, crawler cam with no improvement. It's A bit hard to start when cold but idles and runs great. Its so bad I have to run low range on our logging roads. The only thing I know thats not suppost to be is it has the EFI ignitor/coil and the instructions say to use one off A carb truck. Could this create that big of A power difference and still run smooth?

What parts did you use in your conversion?

Or go all out and get an MSD box either the Street Fighter or 6A box and a MSD Blaster High Vibration coil and use that. That's what I'm going to be running on my rig with propane. MSD box should show up from the FedEx gods on Monday and hopefully I will hear mine run for first time. Good luck with it.

So the kit states that you need a mechanical advance distributor. You are running a distributor that is made to advance via the computer.

Of course you have no power.... what is advancing your spark under load?

The vacuum advance has been hooked up the whole time. Just went thru and checked the cam timing, its good. The dist. is set at 10 degrees btdc. Its kinda lopey there but any less and it wont run, any more and it misses. The cam is Daves 268 duration. Could it be something wrong with the propane kit? Its got A real heavy propane smell out the exhaust. The plugs are brown color. Don't know what they should be with propane.
