Would stock sami axles hold up to a stock built V8 302 and 31's in light driving around town with very mild wheeling, in a less than 3000 lb rig?
Serious question. They can't be THAT weak, can they? Well, then. I'll go buy the Toyota axles for double the price then.I don't even think the zuk axles will handle the weight of a V8 and trans.. yet alone the power.
Not really anything hardcore, just a CJ3A with a 302 and a T18/D20In reality, maybe. if you were to drive it like a senior citizen. But you wont. so no, they wont work. If you plan on wheeling this thing, toys wont hold either. Toys are good for what they were designed for.... 4 bangers.
A 1.3 makes 75 ft-lbs on a good day (and breaks axles), a stock 5.0 makes 300. Do it and post video :beer:Serious question. They can't be THAT weak, can they?
Thanks. No prob, good luck with the build.
Get a hold of Rocky Mountain OffRoad in Athel ID. He should be able to set you up with the axles you need. The sammy axles will fail fast. They fail under a 2000 lb rig on 31's so a rig under 3000 lbs with a V8 of any kind will end them fast. Don't waste your time and get better axles. Not really anything hardcore, just a CJ3A with a 302 and a T18/D20
My only other option is to try and score a dana 30 front, dana 44 rear, which is damn near impossible locally.
Well, thanks for saving me $200
Thing is, i called a place just outside town, and they wanted $565 for JUST the dana 30 front. I can't justify that much for an axle of unknown mileage or abuse. ya know?Get a hold of Rocky Mountain OffRoad in Athel ID. He should be able to set you up with the axles you need. Especially in a Samurai. Putting a V8 in it will ruin all the good lightweight characteristics. Why on earth would anyone need more the 49 horsepower? :flipoff2:
