I’m 6'4" and my head sticks out the top of my YJ roll bar. I'm looking to upgrade to some suspension seats but don't want to spend the money on seats and a sunroof because of the height issue. anybody running some low seat height suspension seats?

Currently running stock brackets, sliders, then some best top seats. next step is to remove the seat sliders, if that doesn't work then start to cut down the stock brackets. I have a full cage, and will eventually tie in some mounts and do the seats that way. I’m just looking for a temp fix as i gotta use this as a DD for 6 months.

Thoughts?

I'm 6'3" and I don't have this problem in a YJ. Do you have a TJ? The TJ seats are thicker and sit up higher. I bought a Jeep YJ that had TJ seats in it and I had to take them out because my head also sat higher then the roll bar.

Corbeau has shitty seats!

:flipoff2:I have the wide corbeau Baja RS seats, Going on my 3rd set of covers, They use shitty material....the first covers were worn out in 6 weeks, these covers lasted 6 months before they began to wear through. :mad3: After 2 years the black has now faded blue. The foam has now crushed out and the tube is beginning to show through on the drivers side also. I am taking them to an upolstery shop and see if I have any better luck there.

Just wondering if your seats were all vinyl or cloth and vinyl thanks.

Cloth and Vinyl, the edges wore first then the plastic round bead came out....They want 119 for the same crappy covers. Hoping I can come up with the funds for good material at an upolstry shop this winter. I wound up putting the old seats back in. Tim

Let us know how those are, because at 250$ for a pair you can't beat the price.

What ever you do, do not get these seats!! I got these and had them for six months and the seats fell apart. I ended up getting the corbeau baja ultras and could not be happier. The price was good and are extremely comfortable. However i would not recommend these for a daily driver, they have high bolsters which make it more difficult to get in and out but corbeau has a couple good choices to pick from that would be better for a dd.

thanks black sheep,

that was the problem, I guess I was looking too hard to fix an easy problem.

PRP full custom color/materials $578 shipped to my door in Ohio.
Premier High backs.... $80 shipping.

That's not bad at all.
If you're big, get the Daily Drivers.

36" waist & smaller the high backs keep you in place on the rough stuff.

Stay away from Tweed, it's a moisture trap.. Like a sponge.
Get the Corduras or vinyl combo. Tweed sucks

Cordura repells water & the vinyl can be sprayed off & wiped clean.

I got Cordura centers, vinyl arms & back... with a colored vinyl piping.
Great seat... great options, price doesn't change.

Those look a lot like the mastercrafts I have in my jeep...im sure others will chime in but for the price they are nice. Mine are the original safety seats. They don't have any size specs on them, but they are very close to the safteys. I would want smaller bolsters for a dd because i have issued getting in my yj when they were bolted to the stock mounts before i mounted them to my cage

I love my PRP DD's, but I feel like the back lays back too far. Am I the only one that doesn't fit in the fixed back seats? In my stock seats I had it two notches back, so nearly vertical.
what size waist are you? I wear a 32-34 and mine feel almost to tight on my hips. I'm not a big guy but dam. I'm wondering if the QC was just not up to par when mine rolled off the line.

Just got my prp comps yesterday from Dave's offroad supply(vendor here on pirate, great service and prices) . They are super pimp/comfortable. Will be installing soon into my tj. Had baja ss before and they were just to short on the back part. Will be mounting to custom cage seat area, will get pics on height once I get done. Also made more headroom than the stock cage with my new cage

Little late on the reply but I'm a 36" waist. I could feel the frame on my hip bones. I ended up switching to corbeau baja recline-able seats. They aren't as tall though and I don't like that my head isn't supported in the event of a wreck. Oh well I don't DD the jeep any more so that's not as big of an issue and my offroading is mild compared to most here.

Any update on these seat options? I'll be looking to get rid of my plastic craptastic kidney killers real soon in my CJ5. The Corbeau Baja RS seem like the best deal, but I didn't like hearing how quick the fabric wears out. Have they fixed this problem yet? My second choice is really my first, they just cost a lot, the Mastercrafts. (also Baja RS) One plus is I need only really buy one seat if I go with my weird plans. Thinking about removing the passenger seat to make a little platform for my 98lb German Shepherd service dog Brandy, so she can ride in the front with me. She takes up too much cargo space in the rear during camping trips, and is too big for a bucket seat. Wife or kids won't go wheeling with me anyway. Wife's scared, adult kids busy with school.

Been running the prp's in my daily driver for about a year now and two trips in them and have enjoyed them. Not an issue getting in and out with bolsters
