Longest upper will be an 11.5" barrel, so that like 16" on a complete upper?

i would be fine carrying it all modular or with one upper on. ill just have to find what works the best with the space i have available and see what i can figure out. it will be like a puzzle that i cant put together till i get box.
My 10.5 300 blk upper is 18" stripped and 25.5" assembled collapsed w/o flash hider.

This is with a standard M4 tube and stock.

No, doesn't have to be black, but that seems to be the most abundant and cheapest color. Id take an orange Pelican 1600 in a heartbeat. Spray paint can always be applied liberally.
I will check...its fucking cold out :flipoff2:

I have a grey slightly beaten one and an orange one, I will have to measure to make sure they are that exact size. if one is what you need we can work a little trade :D

and I would not do foam, I would do velcro. get a box of industrial sticky back and line the inside with the "loop" part, then make dividers either stiched or spray adhered "fuzzy" fabric that the "loop" part will stick to.
then you can just use velcro to hold shit all in place.

That's good advice, I'll take it under consideration. Let me know the inside measurements and we'll work out something. Thanks, Doc

just for comparison sake, the Pelican 1600 measures inside dimensions at 21.43" x 16.5" x 7.87".

oh and im up for either one of those boxes, whatever you want to part with, providing they are in the ballpark on the sizes.

ok ***, I had to break one loose from the ice  they grey ones are 1600's, will check the orange ones this weekend

are you taking the flash hider off the top upper ?

i got this but no pics of what it looks like loaded up. All the uppers will fit in there nicely. but here is my issue..... the loop field padded inserts are well used and dont really stay in place well, and they shift around. Also, with all the rounded edges, there seems to be little actual contact for my double sided velcro straps to adhere to. The two longer uppers fit nicely between those long dividers, but the lower itself is heavy enough that it slides and pulls the side of the insert walls when its closed.

Here are my possible solutions:

1) velcro or glue the perimeter (rectangular lining) insert to the plastic of the pelican. this should keep it pinned against the walls and then the parts will stay in place better when velcro'd to the insert

2) get rid of the insert all together and glue hook and loop fields to the bottom and the sides of the pelican. Problem is still see is that when its set up and closed, there is going to be gravitiy pulling on those velcro straps and i dont think its going to work well enough to keep everything in place and from falling/rolling/banging against the other uppers, optics, lower and cans.

3) just get the pluck foam set, cut to fit, and then its all contained and doesnt move around when closed. this might be the way to go since i want this thing to ride in the bed of my truck with multiple things that also bang around and slide in there (generator, saws, propane bottles etc.).

if its not fit tightly in the foam, i fear its going to get jarred and all come unhooked from the velcro. which just defeats the purpose of all this anyway, and i might as well just wrap each piece in a towel and pile it in a duffel bag.

I have no answers, I just want to be the guy who finds this case on the side of the road when it bounces out of your truck. :flipoff2:

so i want to be able to carry 3 SBR uppers, my SBR lower and a few mags and ammo all in one, smallish, easily totable package. Ive looked at different options.

This one seems pretty basic but i think things will be too tightly packed and not enough padding for the back of a pickup truck. Would need many tie downs, etc. dims 26"x12"x 4" Price $60

yes yes, i am aware of where this one comes from and who makes it and trust me, it makes it really tough. plus the price is high. but it looks like it has a few good features and i think i could add a piece of padding to make it like a double compartment. im iffy about it, but its one thing that googled up. Dimensions Exterior 27.5” x 11” x 4.5” Price $140

next is one that is probably the sturdiest, and roomiest option is a Pelican 1600 or similar model and size. Dims 24" x 19" x 8.7". cost $160

I had originally been playing around with doing the tennis racket bag but after figuring in $45 for a dual pocket padded case, having to get kydex to reinforce the walls, add velcro tie downs, try and parse it off to hold ammo and mags, i think ill be on top if i just start with something closer to what i want.

does anyone have any other ideas?

my uppers are:

11.5" barrel with brake 5.56mm

4.5" barrel with 7" rail 22LR, has a first generation aimpoint on it

8" barrel with 9" rail 300 BO, has an old ACOG on it

would like to have my 4 22LR mags, and atleast 3-4 full mags of each the 5.56 and 300 BO.

also would need to carry at least 3 suppressors, as well.

Not much to add, but the Larue bags aren't made by Larue. If you like that one, get it from the source and due without the :rainbow: Larue logo. I think it is a company called WRB if I remember correctly.

yeah, i was using it as an example. its not a bad style, but i dont think that had enough capacity for what i was looking for. one upper and one lower plus accessories could fit, i dont think 2 more uppers and suppressors would have made it.

I liked your idea, so I stole it. :flipoff2:

I though this guy was too small, but figured what the heck and tried it. I didn't have any foam for it, so I stole some out of my 1550. Worked, kinda.

+ Tiny case, as in a small carry on
+ Inconspicuous, looks like a camera case
+ Protects my stuff
+ Fits, about everything I want for this trip.

- Looks like a camera case, baggage crushers probably "disappear" way more electronics than firearms.
-Wont fit much more, maybe my can (if the ATF every decides to return my stamp!)
- Upper almost touches both sides, I'm going to use some close cell foam on the ends.
- If I have to pull everything out to show "clear" to TSA, then it's a PITA to put back in.

I'm going to see if they have a roller just a bit bigger, and look into laser cut foam.
