BB 9" rear?? (with PICS NOW)

and yes i've done a search...

i got this 9" cheap ($100) and wanted to varify what i was told about the rear. i was told it was a Big Bearing Bronco 9" rear, 31 spline, 3.50 geared, and open.

havent cleaned (no heavy rusting, but its dirty and geasey as hell) or torn it apart yet...but what ive found so far:
*it measures 65" wms-wms.
*its 5x5.5 pattern
*the pinion has a square 'bolt' in the side
*dont see an 'N' in the casing
*has single verticle ribbing, and 3 horizonal ribs
*around the 3rd Member the only numbers/letters i can make out around the edges are: (these are in seperate places) 2L29 on a 'plate', D2SW, 4888A, 66 or 99 depending on which way its viewed, and DIF

what do i have?? im sure its much better than the stock D35 im running either way.
thanks

that 2L29 would usualy indicate a 2.29 limited slip rearend, probably from a LTD or cougar.

However, if it is from a big bronco, then it is a 31 spline 9" and 3.50/open's were the most common for those.

Take a picture of it for us.

I can't see it very well, but those backing plate bolts look small for being a big bearing, as do the brakes. I'll see if I can find a comparison chart. But then, if its a 31 spline, its a bb.

you could also remove the 4 nuts, and pull one axle to check if it has 31 spline axles..
