I have a 79 bronco with a np205 transfer... im wanting to put in a chevy engine and tranny. I know that transfer was used in some chevys. I was going to find a chevy adapter from a chevy trans to the chevy np205. I was wondering what was different besides the adapter. If anyone has had experience dealing with this kind of swap I'd appreciate any info thanks.

Ford and chevy 205's use different bolt patterns on the face. Ford is 6 bolt round and chevy uses about 4 different patterns, none of which match i do believe. They did use the 6 bolt round pattern on later aluminum cases, but not the 205. (If i'm wrong someone tell me)

What kit did you use for that? Do you have a length on it? When I do my GM V8 swap I want to run TH350/Chev NP203/Ford NP205.
any of the companies that make the doublers can do it, I am using the ORD one doing this exact thing...I am not sure on teh length though and my buggy isn't here at my house...if I remember right its something like 21.5" from the face of the 203 to the yoke of the 205...about the same length as a stock 203...

I am using a Ford 205 behind my 4L80E. I had to machine the case to fit the larger GM bearing (32 spline) and redrill it to the GM bolt pattern (the Ford case had the casting for the GM bolt pattern!!) The total cost incl the 2 205 cases (ford-GM) incl machining was $250 ! It looks like that the 205 cases I have casted for Ford and GM bolt pattern, but only drilled for one Ford or GM.
