Tomorrow I will have a few more pics. after we graded out the shop today we laid out 6mil poly. And in the middle bays 1" foam for the heated floor.

Tomorrow I will be laying out the pex for the in floor heat. Monday its getting poured. :grinpimp::grinpimp:

42 yards. The guy is bringing over his lazer screed. so the floor will be nice and level. and his going to burn it in with a ride on trowel machine.

Why are you only doing a 4" thick slab? I wouldn't consider thinner than 6" for a shop. Especially more so with having pex in it.
I thickened the slab in font of the 2 big doors to 5". with as hard as this sub-grade is I'm really not all that concerned. the tamper was literately jumping off the ground for most of the time.

People do 4" slab with pex in it all the time. so I don't really understand your reasoning there.

I used a vibratory roller until the sub-base sounded like a drum. Four inch slab with 4x4x4/4 welded wire mesh - that thing is solid.

Looking at this picture, my comment was going to be that you'd have to build a second building for a shop as this one was full...

But you seemed to find someplace to put it all...

nice shop. started in 2011, amazing how time flies when your having fun
the only thing i would add is a wall to keep heat in a workable area in the winter
but then i don't know what your heating needs in MO are, probably nothing like MI winters :D

...linked over today from your other shite by chance!

You are going to be one happy guy w/ a poured floor!

...trying to get motivated to finish mine before the weather...tnx

Because the pex takes up some room that would otherwise be concrete so it reduces the strength.

Maybe it's a north vs south thing, but few here would pour a 4" for something that has to carry a good amount of weight.
My garage is 6", as is my patio outside (with 12" edges :D)

Not only just the weight, but we deal with ground movement as well. (frost)

I would think that Montana would get frost too though?

I don't know about Montana... But here in Missouri our frost line is 18" or so. regardless Im not worried about it.
