I've had enough. Another 35" tire for my ricer 20" wheels blew out AGAIN.

I don't off-road it or pull my tag toybox through the deep sand anymore. I don't load the bed with more than a motorcycle either. So why the Hell is my dumbass looking at 19.5" wheels and tires:homer:

I plan on lots of highway miles soon, maybe towing about 10K. I've had Goodyear, Toyo mud(X2), Pro-Comp (all and mud), and now Federal Couragia shitters, all "E" and they have never lasted more than 30K miles:( Since I have 20" ricer wheels, tires ain't cheap. So my choice AGAIN is to spent another $450 for ONE tire mounted, and have different tread depths on all 4:(

OR pay about $1700 and get these:
Vision 81 Heavy Hauler 19 5" 19 5x7 5 8x165 1 0mm Machined Wheels Rims | eBay
and these:
4 Tires 265 70R19 5 H 16 143 141M New All Position Truck Tire 26570195 R216 | eBay
OR these:
4 Tires 265 70R19 5 143 141J Closed Shoulder Drive Truck Tire 26570195 R508 | eBay

Searching here tells me an empty dually with load "H" tires rides rough. OK, duh. Mines a SRW and I think it's almost too soft now. Are "F" that much softer than the "H" tires I found?? Will traction tires in the front make is squirm on the highway at 80mph?? My research shows the wheel/tire combo weight to be surprisingly very similar to what I have at about 50#/wheel, 80#/tire.

You guys have any experience with this?

EMIEVIL changed from 17's to 19.5's on my old dodge camper(8k+ srw) because of blowouts. seems to work for him so(40k) far. how much should you pay for peace of mind?????

for a dedicated tow rig i would go with steers front and traction rears
yeah, no front back tire rotation, but i rather have dedicated tires then jack of all trades and master of non "all position" tires

that is a good price for 4 AL rims :smokin:
what is the weight rating on them ?

4500lbs each. The steel ones are 5500:D

Can you get a milder E rated tire with a mileage guarantee?

295/60/20 nitto g2 with 50k mileage warranty for 352ea at discount tire direct
Nitto's have treated me real well on other trucks, but I'd be over $1400 for just the tires.
It's worth a look though, thanks:grinpimp:

they ride awful... they are heavy as fuck so you will need new shocks at minimum, and the sidewalls are so stiff that they rattle your fillings.

tires don't just blow out, if youre frequently blowing out tires, it is unlikely that the tire is to blame.

but whatever.

What year? If you can fit 16"s my 265/75R16E Duratracs have don e very well. Much better than the Pro Comps, Authorities, Bridgstones, GSAs . 50kmiles+.

For interest, I ran the worn out bridgestones and the authorities as trailer tires and no blow outs. Lost every single trailer tire I have ever had (15+)m and only a few very cheap Walmart LT tires.

I know nothing of 20"s but my co-worker has been through a bunch of Coopers on his '11 F350 with no issues.

They ride "awful"? Or are you just guessing?

Like I said in the OP… The whole wheel and tire combo is close (+6 lbs or so) heavier than the 35"X20" I have on there now. I think a fuck weighs 350lbs or more? Haha.

I would also like to know why I have had threecatastrophic tire failures in >15k miles with 80%+ tread left. Shit tires are a good guess.

That's the question. Do I want to spend $1400 to guess with a better tire, OR spend $1700 for overkill. Maybe I'm just talking to myself:p

Ya, I didn't like my Pro-Comps either.

I could fit 16's but then I'm in buying wheels again:( I have heard good things about the Duratracs! I even wanted a set when they came out but didn't have my size. Maybe they do now?

The problem we have with 19.5 tires is that they grab and hold stones like no other. Drive down a dirt road and for the next 100 miles you are slangin rocks. Usually they wont clear out until you hit about 75mph.

Firestone and Continental make some real good tires though. I would go for a matching set of 4. Two drive tires and two steer would look silly on anything besides a dually.

I had vision 19.5's and DH01's on my dodge srw. They rode rough and I had to stay on rotations because they would cup really bad. No other tire/wheel combo before or after the 19.5's has had a cupping problem. I run load E nitto's now and love them.

I swear by my Pro-Comp Xtreme At's. I'm on my 2nd set. I bought my first set off a friend who put about 30k on them, i put at least another 50k on them, including towing my camper across the country and back, and sold them with tread left on them to buy the ones I have on them now.

Although I'm only on 18s so not full ricer mode

Guess it depends on the tread, but ya on matching them. I don't want to play Heavy Duty trucker wannabe:p

I'm running the visions with toyo m608 tires on my ram srw. I switched because I run a heavy truckcamper. Rough, unloaded yes... loaded not bad. I have 40k miles on them and I would say they are half way worn. Great highway mileage, around town its a lot of weight to get going. They aren't great in the rain/snow. I may get them siped. They grab ruts very aggressively also. I'm not certain I'll stay with the 19.5's whe these wear out....

That is exactly the specific info I was looking for. :grinpimp::grinpimp:

Holy shit! You got 80K on some Pro-comp A/T's and still had enough tread to sell them?!? Thats on the '02 SD in your sig? Color me impressed! I'd keep buying them too.

I have a friend with the same Toyo's on a Ram SRW and a camper, and loves them. But it isn't his DD. Thanks for the great info. One internet point for you too!

Yes, they ride like total shit and if you don't believe me go rent a penske truck with em and start wincing over ever expansion joint. Now imagine them on a truck that weighs half as much. They are stiff as hell. As for why you lost 3 tires, I couldn't tell you. I have some friends that lose tires all the time. They run old, shitty tires, habitually under inflate them, fail to check pressures, etc. All could be contributing.

If you're just getting puncture flats then it's probably not gonna matter much what tire is. They are all filled with air.

And I think when you get it mounted and balanced you'll see how much heavier the mdt tires will be.

But whatever.

If you hate your ricer dubs so much, buy some stock 16's or 17's, whatever clears your brakes.

My buddy put these on his truck a little while back.

No sooner than he put them on he took them off because of ride. Balanced them multiple times, changed tires, lowered pressures, everything. He bought some new 17' wheels with Michelin rubber and hasnt looked back. Still has the wheels sitting beside his garage.

Its a 3500 dually, how is it supposed to ride?

They must not use the truck enough to benefit from the gains of a heavy tire. People that need them put up with the ride because they have no choice and need something to get the job done, not a tire to massage their bum every time they hit an expansion joint in the freeway.
